WPFFA Cares is our charitable branch. Every year we raise money for specific charities.
In 2017 our flagship charity is Make-A-Wish of Central & South Texas. When you donate to WPFFA Cares, 80% of your donation goes to our flagship charity; 15% goes to our WPFFA Charity fund which is used to make donations throughout the year to things such as disaster relief funds. The remaining 5% is used to offset operational costs and pays for things like promotional materials, banners, etc.
No one is paid for taking part in WPFFA Cares.
WPFFA Cares is very grateful for your donation. We are currently working towards the goal of allowing your donation to be tax-deductible, however we are not quite there yet and, as such, your contribution cannot be deducted from your taxes. Thank you for your generosity, understanding, and patience.
Regarding our 2016 Bucket Brigade:
Our intention for 2016 was to raise money exclusively for Cooper's Quest, a local non-profit that benefits children who have disabilities or medical conditions and whose parents are emergency service workers. We told you that 100% of what you donated would go to that organization. Unfortunately, Cooper's Quest has decided not to renew their 501(c)3 non-profit status and has ceased it's operations. The Westlake Professional Firefighter's Association met on January 20th and decided by vote to roll the money we had raised into our 2017 efforts. The money that you gave us will go to a worthy cause, just not the one we originally intended. We are very sorry for any confusion this may have caused.
